Cancer Proteomics – Otto Kauko

Our group studies protein phosphorylation in the context of cancer cell growth regulation. Majority of phosphorylation sites have no known function, and our aim is to identify the sites necessary for growth to uncover new therapeutic opportunities. Current projects focus on the regulation of rRNA synthesis, proteogenomic analyses of head and neck cancers, targeted therapy resistance in melanoma, and histidine phosphorylation. We are located in Turku Proteomics facility and take advantage of proteomics methods in our research as well as develop new methods.
