Information for patients

The best possible treatment for you

One in three Finns gets cancer at some point in his/her life. Almost two out of every three cancer patients are cured.

Everyone who gets cancer reacts in his/her own way to the diagnosis. Cancer is a very personal experience – it affects your body and your mind. Cancer treatment is becoming more tailored to the individual patient – cancer treatment follows your needs. You are not left alone. You will participate in the various stages of the cancer treatment path and your condition is taken into consideration at every stage of the illness.

We work at FICAN West with the goal to cure an increasing number of cancer patients. We are relentlessly running trials and doing research to find and develop new and better cancer treatments. Cancer therapy has developed immensely during the recent decades. The prognosis is becoming better for an increasing number of patients with various forms of cancer.

Information for the patient, family and friends

Our web pages describe the treatment paths of many forms of cancer.  Study the treatment path of the cancer that you have, and you are able to follow your treatment from the very beginning.  There is information on services available, e.g., rehabilitation and peer support, and guidance on how you can improve the wellbeing of body and mind.  Your family and friends will also find much valuable information and support on our web pages.

We follow the regional treatment guidelines for treating cancer. You will find them here: Treatment.

More on cancer, cancer treatment and rehabilitation on the web page of the Turku University hospital and Health Village.
