Steroid hormones as cancer promoting factors – Matti Poutanen

Our research group aims to clarify mechanism by which steroid hormones promote cancer growth in reproductive tissues, and in their metastases. Primary tumors and metastases of prostate, breast, endometrial and ovarian cancer are in focus. We utilize clinical samples of patients, patent derived cells and commercial cancer cell lines, and especially apply in vivo pre-clinical xenograft models in rodents. The research group is led by Professor Matti Poutanen. Poutanen is also the director of Turku Center for Disease Modeling (TCDM).
